Gem Mountain Gemstone Mine is located in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, located in the Spruce Pine area between Asheville and Boone, North Carolina. Situated off the Blue Ridge Parkway at milepost 331, Gem Mountain offers a fun, family-oriented attraction that your whole family will be sure to love!

Gem Mountain offers a variety of activities whether it be at our main property or at our mines! At the main property, you can find your treasures at the flume mine, have your treasures made into jewelry, and also shop around for just about anything you can think of at the general store! If you would like to take your experience “off-road,” we do offer guided mine trips to our private mines where you can dig your own!

Charles and Kay Buchanan, owners and operators of Gem Mountain Gemstone Mine, are confident you will treasure the gem hunting experience! Many valuable gems are found each day and everyone walks away with something they love. Gem mining is fun for mom and dad; kids too!

Our covered Flumes allow for prospecting rain or shine. Our modern gem washing facilities make it an easy and relaxing way to discover Earth's treasures. We supply all of the necessary equipment needed. After you get done mining, your stones will be inspected free of charge. Experienced gem cutters are also on hand to cut and design jewelry from your finds.
