About Us

Sugar Mountain Ski Resort is in the village of Suger Mountain, North Carolina; but has Banner Elk, NC mail service. The ski resort features a six-passenger high speed chair lift, and a four-passenger high-speed chairlift. We have several beginners' runs, several novice runs, and several runs for the more advanced skier; including Tom Terrific and Whoopdedoo, both double black diamond runs.

Enjoy skiing and snowboarding on 125 acres; we have for your pleasure tubing, ice-skating, and snowshoeing day and night. Our state-of-the-art snowmaking covers all 22 slopes including the terrain park.

The Snowsports schools accommodate all ages and abilities including half or full-day programs for kids. The rental shop specializes in top of the line equipment and clothing. Sugar Mountain Resort includes easy access tubing park with several 700 foot lanes, as well as having a 10,000 sq. ft. outdoor ice-skating rink. Every season there tends to be past olympic skaters showing their stuff courtesy of their relationship with Kim Jocl.

The base lodge includes two cafeterias, the Last Run Lounge, a group sales department, a locker room, and the Sugar Mountain Sports & Gift Shop. Special events are held year-round.

Summertime fun includes weekend chairlift rides, a gravity mountain bike park, the Summit Crawl, and Oktoberfest.
